history

Koronadal Valley Project established four (4) settlement districts. Lagao (in Buayan) was the first on 3 March, four (4) days after their arrival on the shores of Sarangani Bay on 27 February 1939.  This was followed by Tupi (1939), Marbel (1940) and Polomolok (1941).

The Alah Valley Project was an off-shoot of the uninterrupted flow of home-seekers into the Koronadal Valley. Banga was opened on 4 March 1941 and Norala was created on 9th April 1941.

Decades after, all these were converted into seven municipalities (Tampakan, Surallah, Sto. Nino, Tupi, Banga, Polomolok) and two cities (General Santos & Koronadal).
