Datu kudanding camsa
1905 - 1986
- Datu Kudanding was born in Sapakan, Maguindanao on January 1, 1905, under the house of Buayan Sultanate.
- Grandson of the then Datu Utto
- Crowned as the 20th Sultan of the House.
- He was orphaned early in his life and stayed with different relatives from time to time.
- He grew his consciousness between the waning olden practices, i.e., slave-keeping and slave trading and
gradual imposition of American governance and legal system in Mindanao.
SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTION
- Facilitated the safe evacuation of inhabitants to National Land Settlement Area (NLSA)
- First elected Mayor of Koronadal in 1947.
- Served as Mayor in 1948 – 1951.
- Also became an appointed mayor of the Municipality of Norala in 1953 by Pres. Elpidio Quirino.
- Technical Assistant on Muslim Affairs under President Carlos P. Garcia in 1959.
- Appointed by Pres. Ferdinand Marcos as mayor of Sultan sa Borongis in 1975.
- When ILAGA, a quasi-military group allegedly composed of mostly
Ilonggos, ravaged the Moro settlements in Ala Valley area and nearby areas from
1968 to 1973, Datu Kudanding fought for his people’s rights and openly opposed the government. - His generousness in his prime, giving lands and helping the people especially the settlers, deemed to become disadvantageous in his later life. Left with meager property, he died at Sapakan, Sultan sa Barongis, Maguindanao, on January 4, 1986.
