  • Republic Act No. 1107 An Act Changing the Name of the
    Municipality of Buayan, in the Province of Cotabato to General
    Santos by virtue of House Bill No. 401 was approved on 15
    June 1954. This was sponsored by Congressman Datu
    Luminog Mangelen of Cotabato
    • Republic Act No. 5412 An Act Creating the City of General
    Santos by virtue of House Bill No. 17209, sponsored by South
    Cotabato Congressman James L. Chiongbian, became into
    law on June 15, 1968

GENERAL PAULINO SANTOS AND HIS WIFE ELISA ANGELES WERE BLESSED WITH SEVEN CHILDREN

  • Rosa Santos Munda – lawyer, retired President of the
    Philippine Women’s University – Manila and the Philippine
    Women’s College of Davao, married to Amado A. Munda,
    lawyer-businessman based in Davao City;
    • Isabel A. Santos – Tour and Costume Director of the
    Bayanihan Philippine Dance Company;
    • Lourdes Santos Villacorta – former Social Secretary of First
    Lady Madam Imelda Romualdez-Marcos, Malacañang;
    married to businessman Roland J. Villacorta of Manila;
    • Paulino A, Santos, Jr. – businessman, General Santos City;
    married to Carmen Marquez of Cotabato City;
    • Remigio A. Santos – retired Senior Vice President of the
    United Coconut Planters Bank (UCPB); married to Remedios
    Cervantes of Malolos, Bulacan;
    • Elisa Santos Ascue – former PWU and PWC faculty member;
    married to Capt. Leonardo Ascue of Manila; and,
    • Jose A. Santos – former Vice Mayor of Veruela, Agusan del
    Sur, married to Siony Mordeno of Veruela.
